At approximately 6:35 p.m., Hamilton Police were called to the intersection of Highgate Drive and Upper Centennial Parkway for a serious collision.
Information received indicated that two vehicles had collided, and one vehicle became fully engulfed in flames. Police, Hamilton Fire Department, and Hamilton Paramedics responded to the scene.
Emergency responders located two individuals from one vehicle who were pronounced deceased at the scene. The two occupants of the other vehicle were able to exit and were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Hamilton Police Forensic Unit is on scene and processing evidence. This is a detailed process that can take several hours, and we ask the public for patience while this important work is completed. The Collision Reconstruction Unit has taken over the investigation.
Upper Centennial Parkway is closed in both directions from Highland Road to Rymal Road. Motorists are asked to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
