The Intelligence Branch provides the entire Hamilton Police Service with tactical, strategic and investigative support.

The police officers and team members assigned to the Hamilton Police Intelligence Branch are responsible for liaising and working in partnership with other law enforcement agencies.

The mandate and responsibilities of the Intelligence Branch are vast, however include some the following:

  • Monitoring the activities of traditional and non-traditional organized crime groups and gangs
  • Fugitive apprehension
  • Monitoring activities of provincial and federal high risk offenders
  • Investigating and gathering intelligence relating to hate crimes and hate bias incidents in our community

 

Police officers within the Intelligence Branch work within the following areas and units:

  • Hate Crime / Extremism Unit
  • Sex Offender Registry
  • High Risk Offenders
  • Corrections Canada Liaison
  • ROPE - Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement
  • Biker Enforcement
  • PATS - Provincial Anti- Terrorism
  • Fugitive Apprehension Unit
