Know your neighborhood. Help build safer communities together!
Hamilton Police Service is committed to working in partnership with our community. Citizens can now connect with the Service using an online crime mapping tool to reduce crime and improve public safety in the City of Hamilton. Crime mapping helps the public get a better understanding of the crime activity in their area so they can make more informed decisions about how to stay safe.
About the Map
This online crime mapping tool allows users to conduct searches to identify when and where certain types of crimes have taken place in Hamilton during the past 60-days. Crimes are posted with a one-day delay.
The data represented on the map includes Hamilton police reports of Homicide, Break & Enter (Burglary), Robbery, Motor Vehicle Theft, and Theft from Vehicle (Burglary from Motor Vehicle).
Updates to the crime map are based on crime information which is preliminary in nature and subject to change for a variety of reasons. Offence types and related addresses often change during the investigative process. The information is therefore provided only as a general overview of crime trends in the City of Hamilton.
Crime locations have been randomly offset and addresses mapped to the block level to protect victim privacy (e.g. 123 King St becomes 1xx King St).
Citizens can sign up for Crime Alerts to which they would receive email/mobile notifications based on user defined areas.
Users will find a link to the Crime Stoppers site to submit a tip by clicking on an icon in the map. Tips submitted to Crime Stoppers through the link within the crime map are anonymous and cannot be traced.
Citizens can also use basic analytical tools that include hot spot mapping and time of day/day of week at-a-glance charts.
