Unsolved Homicides                             
On Monday, August 16th, 2010 at approximately 9:38a.m., police and emergency medical services responded to a 911 call to the HomeCare Pharmacy at 1217 Main St. East, Hamilton.  Joseph Melo, 46 years old, was found by an employee who was arriving at work.  Mr. Melo was pronounced dead at the scene.  Mr. Melo was a co-owner of the business.


Joseph Melo was an Ancaster resident, and a business man who was well known in the community.  The post mortem confirmed Mr. Melo was a victim of a homicide.  


Details on Mr. Melo’s cause of death and information on the crime scene have not been released by investigators.  Robbery of the pharmacy or Mr. Melo is not believed to be a motive.  When Mr. Melo was found, one of his sandals was missing and has never been found.  


Investigators believe persons in the community may have information to assist in solving this crime but have not come forward to date.  It is believed that a reward for information regarding this unsolved crime will lead to a successful conclusion.
