In the early morning hours of Wednesday, July 8th, 2026, shortly after 12:00am, Hamilton Police were called again, to the area of Atessa Drive and Rymal Road East for a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located several shell casings in front of an Atessa Drive residence. No one was injured in the shooting.
A vehicle of interest was located a short distance away, and the occupant was arrested. A firearm was recovered from the vehicle. As a result, a Niagara area youth has been charged with several firearms offenses. Temporary road closures during the course of the investigation have since re-opened. The investigation remains ongoing.
At this time, the police are actively seeking any potential witnesses to this incident and urge anyone with information to come forward. Investigators are also requesting any residents or business in the immediate neighbourhood to check their security systems for any potential video that may assist the investigation.
