Hamilton Police are investigating a motor vehicle collision that occurred this morning in East Hamilton.
At approximately 6:24 a.m. on Friday, July 17, 2026, Hamilton Police attempted to stop a black Dodge Challenger in the area of King Street East and Balsam Avenue North.
A short time later, the black Dodge Challenger and a silver Ford Escape were involved in a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of King Street East and Balsam Avenue North. Two individuals were transported to hospital with injuries.
King Street East remains closed between Connaught Avenue North and Leinster Avenue South as the investigation continues. Motorists are asked to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked its mandate. As a result, Hamilton Police will not be providing any further information. Any inquiries related to the investigation should be directed to the SIU.
