Hamilton Police are investigating a serious collision involving a pedestrian that occurred shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, in the area of Stone Church Road East and Upper Wellington Street.
A 91-year-old woman was walking westbound within the bike lane with the assistance of a mobility walker when she was struck from behind by a Hyundai driven by an 81-year-old woman.
The pedestrian was transported to Hamilton General Hospital in critical condition.
The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
Stone Church Road East was closed in both directions while officers conducted their investigation and has since reopened.
The Hamilton Police Collision Reconstruction Unit has taken carriage of the investigation. No charges have been laid at this time.
Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward. Motorists who were in the area at the time are asked to review their dash-camera footage. Residents and businesses in the area are also asked to check any surveillance footage.
