Hamilton Police are continuing to investigate after officers responded to reports of gunfire on Mud Street East and seized five firearms, including an SKS rifle and a shotgun.
On Sunday August 23, 2026 at approximately 6:36pm, officers responded to a shots fired call at an address on Mud Street East. Upon arrival, officers observed several individuals fleeing the area on foot. Police quickly secured the scene and arrested multiple individuals.
As the investigation progressed, officers located and seized five firearms from the property, including an SKS rifle and a shotgun. Several individuals were taken into custody and later released pending further investigation.
At this time, there is no information to suggest the gunfire was directed at any person or residence.
Members of the Shooting Response Team have assumed carriage of the investigation and continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the possession and use of the firearms.
