UPDATE: Pedestrian Suffers Life Altering Injuries After Being Struck by Vehicle

The Hamilton Police Collision Reconstruction Unit has made an arrest in an investigation that began in June of 2026.

On Thursday, June 25, 2026, shortly after 4:30 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to a pedestrian-involved collision on King Street East near Dundurn Street North.

A Ford Edge SUV was exiting the Tim Hortons Plaza parking lot onto King Street East when it lost control and struck a 54-year-old man waiting in a nearby bus shelter. The man was transported to hospital with serious, life-altering injuries. The female driver was not injured.

On Monday September 1, 2026, the Hamilton Police Collision Reconstruction Unit concluded this investigation. As a result, a 36-year-old female from the City of Hamilton has been charged with Careless Driving Causing Bodily Harm, contrary to Section 130(3) of the Highway Traffic Act.
