The Domestic Violence Unit networks and liaises with local shelters, community/government agencies, the Crown, Probation and Parole Services, Victim Witness Assistance Programs, local Children’s Aid Societies, and other local services and community representatives responsible for responding to issues relating to domestic violence occurrences.
The Unit acts as a liaison and advocate for Women’s Shelters.
Hamilton Police Service’s Investigative Services Division provides investigative and specialized support to frontline officers. The Division consists of several specialized units that investigate crimes such as homicide, robbery, sexual assault, child abuse, drugs, guns and gangs, human trafficking and fraud.
The Community Relations office serves as the Civilian bridge between the Hamilton Police Service and the diverse populace of Hamilton.
Serving the Aboriginal, Faith, LGBTQ, Newer Immigrant population plus the wide ranging diverse, demographic of the city of Hamilton.
Providing information and awareness to the aforementioned demographic(s) in the spirit of fostering and enabling healthy Community Relations between police and the communities served.
The main responsibility of the Hamilton Police Service’s Community Mobilization Division (CMD) is to assist in providing public safety in the most effective and efficient manner and to assist with the reduction and prevention of crime.These strategies are provided by the specialized units within the Community Mobilization Division.
The Hamilton Police Service – Pipes & Drums was formed in 1961 by a dedicated group of Police Officers. The membership at that time was restricted to members of the Hamilton Police Service only. However since that time, membership has been open to the public, both female and male.
The Hamilton Police Service, Honour Guard, has been active for over 35 years. Initially formed on an ad hoc basis, the few members marched in conjunction with the Hamilton Police Pipes and Drums.
