39-Year-Old Man Arrested After Multiple Stabbing Incidents

Hamilton Police have arrested a 39-year-old Hamilton man in relation to four separate incidents.

Shortly before 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 Hamilton Police received 9-11- calls in relation to a person with a machete in the area of Robert Street and Catharine Street North.  Investigation has revealed that a 43-year-old Hamilton man was struck with the machete and sustained life altering injuries. The victim remains in hospital.

At approximately 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 Hamilton Police responded to the area of York Boulevard and Bay Street for another stabbing.  A 67-year-old Hamilton man had sustained a single puncture wound after attempting to break up a fight between two males who were unknown to him. The suspect had fled prior to police being called.  The victim was transported to hospital where he underwent several medical procedures. He remains in hospital in non-life threatening condition.

As a result of information provided by victims and independent eye witnesses, police located the 39-year-old suspect and arrested him at 5:32 p.m. shortly after yesterdays stabbing.

The weapons involved in both of these incidents have been recovered.

At 5:46 p.m. on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 Hamilton Police learned of a disturbance in the area of 108 York Boulevard.  On scene, police located a 33-year-old Hamilton man who had a stab wound to his abdomen and an injured lip.  The victim was transported to hospital and treated for his injuries. Despite the victim being uncooperative, police have determined that the victim was stabbed approximately 45 minutes prior in a nearby parking lot by the same suspect.

AYALA remains in custody.

Police are also investigating of a fourth stabbing which occurred in the area of Jackson Square on the rooftop between the hours of 2:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 24, 2022.  In this case, a 31-year-old Hamilton man was stabbed in the leg. This investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be laid as a result.
