A Weekend of Proactive Work Yields Several Arrests

During the course of the weekend Hamilton Police Officers conducted several proactive traffic stops that resulted in the execution of arrest warrants, the recovery of stolen property and the seizure of illicit drugs. Hamilton Police continue to work towards a safer community for all.

Friday, June 8, 2018

On Friday, June 8, 2018, shortly before 1:30 p.m., police observed a 2001 black BMW travelling westbound on King Street East at Emerald Street. As a result of the driving maneuver executed by the vehicle an investigation was initiated. Police learned the licence plate attached to the vehicle was not actually registered as per the Ministry of Transportation. A traffic stop was conducted at which time the occupants began to act suspiciously attempting to conceal an unknown item. Police continued the investigation with the arrest authority for the licence plate. A search of the vehicle conducted shortly afterwards revealed the possession of illicit drugs by both occupants.

Police seized 23 grams of Methamphetamine, 10 Oxycodone Pills, 1 gram of marijuana, an undisclosed amount of Canadian currency and a stolen licence plate.

On Saturday, June 9, 2018 shortly before 9:24 a.m., police were in the area of Parkdale Avenue North at Roxborough Avenue, Hamilton. At that time a red Chevrolet Camaro was observed travelling eastbound on Roxborough Avenue with four occupants. It appeared only the driver was wearing a seatbelt. An investigation was initiated and police learned the licence plate was currently registered as "Missing.”

A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was arrested for the licence plate violation. All the occupants were investigated and as such additional arrests were made.

Police have seized .5 grams of Heroin and drug paraphernalia.

On Saturday, June 9, 2018, shortly before 1:00 p.m., Hamilton Police observed a silver Dodge Ram travelling northbound on Upper Ottawa Street near Mountain Boulevard.

The vehicle made an aggressive maneuver away from the police cruiser, believed to be motivated by police presence. An investigation was conducted and police learned a warrant of arrest was in effect for the registered owner.

A traffic stops was conducted and the driver was confirmed to be the registered owner of the vehicle. A 26-year-old man from Hamilton was arrested and later released on a Promise To Appear. He is scheduled to appear in occur on Thursday, July 5, 2018 to answer to the charge.

Sunday, June 10, 2018

On Sunday, June 10, 2018, shortly after 10:35 a.m., police were in the area of Wentworth Street South at Main Street East when a red GMC Yukon was observed parked facing southbound on the roadway, in a northbound lane on Wentworth Street. As police approached, the vehicle drove away to a neighbouring laneway at the rear of a residence. Further investigation was conducted by police and it was discovered the licence plate affixed to the vehicle was not registered to the vehicle.

Police followed the vehicle and when stopped arrested the driver for the licence plate violation. A search of the driver and vehicle revealed the possession of illicit drugs. A second occupant was present, who along with the driver were advised of the arrest for the drugs.

Police have seized 11 grams of Methamphetamine along with drug paraphernalia.

The occupants were later released on Promise to Appears documents. They are scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday July 18, 2018.

On Sunday, June 10, 2018, shortly before 11:00 a.m., police observed a black Ford Focus in the parked on Rosslyn Avenue near Dalkeith Avenue. Two male occupants were seen leaning towards the console of the vehicle acting suspiciously. Police approached the vehicle on foot and observed the males preparing to consume illicit drugs. Further investigation revealed the occupants were in possession of small amount of drugs believed to be a Heroin and Fentanyl mix.

Both males from Hamilton, 30 and 32-years-old were arrested and released on Appearance Notices scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, July 18 and 20 to answer to the charge of possession of a controlled substance - Fentanyl

Monday, June 11, 2018

On Monday, June 11, 2018, shortly after 3:31 p.m., police observed an earlier reported stolen Ford Pickup truck in the area of Sherman Avenue North and King Street East. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was immediately placed under arrest. A search of the driver revealed he was in possession of Methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and an undisclosed amount of Canadian currency. He was advised of additional drug related charges and was held over for a bail hearing.
