Arrest Made After Male Brandished Knife

A 36-year-old man will appear in court later today in connection with a weapons offence.

On Wednesday, September 22, 2021, Hamilton police responded to the area of Wentworth Street North and Cannon Street East for a report of a male brandishing a knife.

Two City of Hamilton waste management employees were in the course of their duties when they were approached by a male who brandished a knife in their direction. The employees were able to retreat from the situation safely and call police.

ARRESTED

  • 36-year-old man

CHARGED

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Two counts of possession contrary to order
  • Three counts of fail to comply with release order

The male will have his matter addressed at the John Sopinka Courthouse later today where he will be facing several criminal charges.

Neither victim in this incident sustained physical injuries.

There are no outstanding suspects in this investigation.
