BB Gunshots Alarm Residents in Dundas Apartment

Police responded to 40 McKay Road in Dundas to investigate gunshots being fired inside an apartment building. Police identified a male was discharging his BB gun inside his apartment.  The male was charged under a City By-Law offence.

On August 29, 2019, shortly before 2:30 p.m., police responded to a Dundas apartment building to investigate shots fired. Police identified the apartment and spoke to the resident. The male was showing signs of alcohol use but did co-operate with police questioning. He confirmed he had several BB guns inside and assisted in their location. While Police was inside they located a BB handgun on the coffee and one on the kitchen table. There was also a large cardboard box with numerous BB holes and shells inside.

Police felt there were general concerns for safety and seized 15 replica BB guns from the residence.

The police did not have grounds to charge the resident criminally. However, the City By-law 19-114 - restricts the use of Discharging of Recreational Firearms within the City of Hamilton.

The 55-year-old Dundas man has been charged.

He has a scheduled court date for September 26, 2019, to answer to the charge.
