Brampton Man Arrested for Pointing Firearm

A 36-year-old Brampton man has been arrested after pointing a firearm at a passenger in a nearby car in the area of Barton Street and Woodward Avenue. He appeared in court today to answer to several firearm-related offences.

On Wednesday, January 2, 2019, shortly after 1:00 a.m., police attended the area of Barton Street East at Woodward Avenue, Hamilton for a weapons call. Police received information the victim was travelling in a car on Woodward Avenue when he observed a passenger in a Hamilton Cab point a gun at him. The cab continued onwards and the victim contacted police. A short time later the vehicle was located by police in the area of King Street East and New Mountain Road.

The passenger was arrested without incident and a handgun was recovered within the vehicle.

No persons were injured during the incident and police believe there is no prior relationship between the accused and the victim.

The Hamilton Cab driver was not a willing participant in the incident.
