Former Branch Manager Charged with Fraud Over $5,000

Hamilton Police Major Fraud Unit has charged a Stoney Creek CIBC Bank Manager with Fraud.

On April 25, 2019, Major Fraud received a report from CIBC Corporate Security regarding an internal investigation alleging one of their employees had stolen a large sum of money from branch customers. The employee had resigned in 2015.

A lengthy investigation commenced and revealed approximately 1.7 million dollars had been stolen from seniors or recently deceased branch customers from 2008 to 2015.

On September 24, 2019, police arrested and charged 60-year-old Sandra Walker from Burlington with fraud charges.

Walker was released on a Promise to Appear and expected to appear in court on October 24, 2019, at 9:00 a.m.
