Charges Laid in Train Collision

On Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at approximately 2:20 p.m. an eastbound train nearing Cochrane Road triggered the activation of railway crossing equipment, signaling the approach of the train.

A vehicle travelling southbound on Cochrane Road proceeded into the railway crossing and collided with the eastbound train.  The 38 year-old female driver of the vehicle, and a 2 year-old passenger were taken to the hospital for medical attention but have since been released.

The Hamilton Police Service commenced an investigation into the collision and have charged the driver with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Criminal Negligence.

The driver was released and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, April 16, 2024.
