Composite Sketch Assists Police with Arrest of Youth for Sexual Assault

A 17-year-old Hamilton youth has been arrested and charged with sexual assault after police were able to link him to two similar sexual assaults during the summer.

On Thursday, September 20, 2018, an adult female reported being sexually assaulted by a male on a skateboard along the Waterfront Bayfront trail in central Hamilton. A police investigation led to a 17-year-old male youth being arrested at the scene of that offence.

The incident was similar in nature to the one described by an adult female in a West Hamilton sexual assault on August 16, 2018. A composite image of the suspect was released at that time.

The composite image released was instrumental in linking the youth to a third sexual assault that also occurred on August 16, 2018. As a result of these three investigations, the Hamilton youth has been charged with two counts of Sexual Assault.

The Hamilton Police Sexual Assault Unit believes there may be other victims and is asking anyone with information to contact Detective Carolyne Rashford of the Sexual Assault Unit at 905-546-4614.
