Concerned Citizen's Call Identifies Stolen Auto

When members of the community share information with police, criminal acts are prevented and more crimes are solved. A Hamilton man appeared in court yesterday for being possession of a stolen vehicle after a concerned citizen contacted Hamilton Police about a motor vehicle parked, running and occupied for several hours.

On Wednesday, February 13, 2019, shortly after 8:30 a.m., police attended the area of Cumberland Avenue and Holton Avenue South for a suspicious vehicle. A concerned citizen contacted police to advise a beige Hummer SUV was occupied and parked with the motor running for several hours. Once on scene, police conducted an investigation into the status of the vehicle and learned it had been reported stolen from a Dundas area residence on February 11, 2019. A lone male occupant was observed in the driver’s seat and he was arrested for being in possession of stolen property. After identifying the male, police discovered he was bound by a court order for a similar offence.

The male was transported taken into police custody and appeared in court on Wednesday, February 13, 2019.
