Mountain Residence Fire Investigated – Deemed Not Suspicious

On Wednesday, September 25, 2019, shortly before 3: 30 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to assist the Hamilton Fire Department with a working fire at a residential facility near the intersection of Concession Street and Upper Wentworth Street.

Road closures were enacted as the immediate area was secured while emergency services addressed the fire. Residents were safely evacuated and there were no injuries reported to police. The Ontario Fire Marshall was contacted due to concerns raised.

Hamilton Police spoke with residents and through the investigation with the assistance of the Hamilton Fire Department, the fire was no longer deemed suspicious, but considered accidental.

The Ontario Fire Marshall was updated and determined they were no longer required to attend.

One Hamilton Fire truck remains at the scene in case of any hot spots. The barricades and road closures were removed and traffic resumed as of 7:30 p.m.
