Continued Enforcement Takes another Firearm off Hamilton Streets

An overnight traffic stop in the area of Cannon Street East and Sherman Street North has led to the seizure of a firearm, illicit drugs and the arrest of two men.

Shortly after 10: 00 p.m. on Monday, March 29, 2022 while conducting proactive patrol, Hamilton Police observed a driver violate the Highway Traffic Act, subsequently a traffic stop was conducted.

As a result of the investigation a 25-year-old male and a 20-year-old male have been arrested and held for a bail hearing to take place this morning.

·         Occupant of Motor Vehicle knowing there was Firearm

·         Proceeds of Crime Under $5,000

·         Possession for the Purpose of Distributing

·         Possession for the Purpose – Cocaine

·         Possession for the Purpose – Fentanyl

·         Possession for the Purpose – Hydromorphone

·         Possession for the Purpose – Benzodiazepine

·         Possession for the Purpose – Oxycodone

·         Fail to Comply Probation

The majority of gun crimes being committed in Hamilton involve guns that were illegally obtained and possessed.
