Convenience Store Robber Arrested

HPS closed down Catharine Street North on August 12, 2020, shortly before 1:00 p.m., to execute an arrest warrant. A 26-year-old male has been safely taken into custody and charged with robbery.

On July 13, 2020, shortly before 5:30 a.m., Police was dispatched to Payless Convenience Store located at 146 Kenilworth Avenue Street North in Hamilton for an attempted robbery. The suspect told the clerk he had a gun and demanded money from the cash register. He was last seen leaving the store on his e-bike.

The male was identified through investigative measures and police safely execute the arrest warrant at his Catharine Street residence. The initial threat of a gun was an intimidation tactic and no gun actually existed.

Charged: William Waite (26-years-old) Hamilton resident
