On Friday September 1st, 2023, at 4:13 p.m., a sedan was travelling westbound on Wilson Street West when it exited the roadway and struck a hydro pole.  

A male driver was the lone occupant of the vehicle. He was transported to hospital as a result of the collision. Two other passing motor vehicles suffered minor damage as the result of the felled hydro pole. There were no other reported injuries. 

Hamilton Police Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate. The affected stretch of Wilson Street West was closed for several hours for the investigation.

The driver of the sedan was reported to be in critical but stable condition.
