Driver of Maserati Charged After Weekend Collision

Police have laid charges against a Hamilton man after a serious weekend crash in the area of Queenston Road and Kenora Avenue in Hamilton.

On March 17, 2019, shortly after 3:00 a.m., emergency services responded to a collision between two vehicles on Queenston Road East at Kenora Avenue, Hamilton.

A black 2008 Maserati, being operated by a 35-year-old Hamilton man, was travelling at a high rate of speed westbound on Queenston Road East near Kenora Avenue. A 24-year-old Hamilton driver of 2007 silver Mercedes-Benz Sports Utility was struck by the Maserati causing the Maserati to leave the road and collide with two hydro poles before striking the Mercedes-Benz vehicle a second time.

The driver of the Maserati fled the area on foot leaving his injured passengers behind. All three passengers of the Maserati were transported to the hospital where they received treatment for various broken bones. The driver of the Mercedes-Benz vehicle remained on scene and provided a statement to police.

The Hamilton Police Collision Reconstruction Unit continues with the investigation. The driver was identified, arrested and held for a bail hearing.
