Driver Sustains Fatal Injury in a Two-Vehicle Collision

Collision within an intersection sends one to hospital and another to be pronounced deceased at the scene.

On Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at approximately 1:00p.m., Hamilton Police and emergency partners responded for a motor vehicle collision involving a 2006 Ford Focus sedan and a 2016 Honda SUV at Highway #5 at Woodhill Road in the City of Hamilton.

The Ford vehicle was travelling northbound on Woodhill Road towards Highway #5 and was struck within the intersection by the 2016 Honda vehicle. Both vehicles came to rest in the drainage ditch along the north side of Highway #5.

The driver of the Honda vehicle, a 73-year-old woman from Hamilton, was transported to hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the Ford vehicle, a 64-year-old Cambridge man, was pronounced dead on scene.

The HPS Collision Reconstruction Unit was activated and has taken carriage of the investigation.

Police have not ruled out any factors that would have contributed to this collision.
