Drug Dealer Arrested after Investigation at Traffic Stop

A Hamilton Police officer on proactive patrol investigated a suspicious vehicle that resulted in the arrest of the driver. Police conducted an investigation into the driver’s level of sobriety. During the investigation, police learned he was in possession of illicit drugs. The male has been charged accordingly.

On Wednesday, April 3, 2019, shortly after midnight, police were patrolling in the area of Barton Street East and Parkdale Street North when a grey Mazda 3 vehicle was observed operating in a suspicious manner. A traffic stop was conducted and due to information gained police commenced an investigation into the driver’s level of sobriety. During the investigation, police learned the driver was in possession of a weapon. A preliminary search was conducted at which time evidence was located to support the possession of illicit drugs. The driver was arrested and found to be in possession of additional drugs. Police have seized the drugs and further evidence to support charges of drug trafficking.

An impairment test was conducted and the driver passed.

The vehicle was towed from the roadway and the registered owner was notified of the location for pick up.

The driver was taken into police custody and will appear in court today to answer to several charges.

  • Undisclosed amount of Cocaine
  • Undisclosed amount of Canadian currency
  • Drug paraphernalia
