Drug Dealer Arrested at Traffic Stop

A Hamilton Police officer on proactive patrol investigated a suspicious vehicle that resulted in the arrest of two occupants. Police charged the driver whose licence was suspended and a passenger with drug offences.

On Monday, February 4, 2019, shortly before 10:00 p.m., police were patrolling in the area of Burton Street and Clark Avenue when a black Volkswagen Jetta was observed stopped suspiciously in an unsafe area on the roadway. Police continued to monitor the vehicle as the driver conducted several unusual maneuvers. In order to determine the reason for the driving actions, a traffic stop was conducted on Victoria Avenue North, south of Burlington Street East. While conversing with the driver, police noted evidence to support the possession of Crystal Meth in the immediate area of the front passenger. The passenger was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. When searched by police it was discovered he was also in possession of MDMA. The continued investigation revealed the presence of additional evidence to support the offence of trafficking illicit drugs.

The passenger, a 30-year-old Stoney Creek male was taken into police custody and will appear in court later today.

The investigation into the driver, a 29-year-old Stoney Creek male resulted in his arrest and subsequent release with a future court date for driving while under suspension.
