Dundas Teen Arrested for Arson

Hamilton Police have arrested and charged a Dundas Teen for Arson after setting multiple small fires outside residential homes during the early morning hours.

On Wednesday, December 4, 2019, shortly after 1:00 a.m., police and Hamilton Fire responded to numerous small fires in the areas of Cayley Court, Parkside Avenue, York Road, Cameron Avenue, McKay Court and East Avenue North in Dundas. Hamilton Fire had been called to extinguish fires to recycling bins, piles of leaves and personal outdoor items left outside residential homes.

A male fitting the suspect description was stopped by police while walking down the middle of Cayley Court shortly before 1:30 a.m. During a conversation with the suspect, police were able to identify evidence which placed him at the scene of the arsons.

The youth has been charged with several criminal offences with the potential to lay more charges as the investigation continues.
