Emergency Services Conduct Water Rescue at Van Wagners Beach

A 21-year-old Hamilton man has succumbed to his injuries after being rescued from the water at Van Wagners Beach.

On Thursday, September 3, 2020, shortly before 7:00 p.m., Hamilton Police received information about a male who had entered the water at Van Wagners Beach and had not resurfaced. Hamilton Police and other emergency service partners quickly responded as efforts were initiated to locate the male. He was later recovered 30 meters offshore at which time life-saving measures were administered. The male was then transported to the hospital.

Early Friday morning, the 21-year-old Hamilton man succumbed to his injuries.

Hamilton Police would like to thank everyone who assisted with rescue efforts.

At this time, police will not be releasing the identity of the deceased.
