G2 Driver Travelling Twice the Speed Limit

An 18-year-old G2 driver was caught stunt driving during an early morning speed enforcement campaign. The driver was issued two court summons for July. Her licence has been suspended for seven days and the vehicle she was operating has been impounded for the same period of time.

On Tuesday, June 4, 2019, shortly before 1:30 a.m., while conducting proactive speed enforcement, police observed a vehicle travelling well above the posted speed limit as it proceeded northbound on Regional Road 56 at Cemetery Road. The posted speed is a 50 km/h zone. An investigation into the speed of the vehicle confirmed it was operating at 102 km/hr. A traffic stop was conducted on a 2014 green Ford Fusion which was being operated by a female driver. The driver produced a valid licence with a G2 classification.

Police issued two court summons; Speeding and Stunt Driving.

The driver is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, July 3, 2019, to answer to the charges.

According to the Highway Traffic Act, the vehicle has been impounded for seven days and the driver’s licence has been suspended for the same period of time.
