Glanbrook Man Arrested in Traffic Pursuit

A 34-year-old Glanbrook man will appear in court today after an early morning traffic pursuit through several communities.

On Wednesday, November 6, shortly after 4:30 a.m., a Hamilton Police officer on proactive patrol observed a black Ford F150 pick-up truck drive behind a business located in the area of Wilson Street West and Portia Drive. Once the driver realized the police were present, the vehicle turned around as the driver made attempts to evade police. The vehicle failed to stop despite the activation of lights and sirens on the police cruiser. Due to the lack of vehicular traffic and speeds being slightly above the posted speed limit, police maintained a safe distance behind the suspect vehicle as it proceeded through several communities ending up in a survey in the area of Garth Street and Stone Church Road West. The driver exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot; however, he was secured by police are resisting.

Through investigation, police learned two warrants of arrest existed for the driver, a 34-year-old Glanbrook man. A further background investigation revealed he was bound by a court order and his arrest signified a violation to that order. Additionally, his licence was also suspended by the Ministry of Transportation in relation to previous incidents.

The driver was taken into police custody and held for a bail hearing. He is scheduled to appear in court later today to answer to criminal charges.

The pick-up truck was seized in accordance with the Ontario Highway Traffic Act VIP Program. It will be impounded for seven days.
