Hamilton Man Arrested After Rash of Illegal Commercial Entries

A Hamilton man has been arrested in relation to a series of overnight commercial entries. Through continued investigation, police recovered firearms, ammunition, pharmaceuticals and stolen property. Two additional adults are also facing charges related to the investigation.

In mid-June 2020, Hamilton Police received a report of a commercial break and enter to an automotive business in the east end of Hamilton. During the incident, a Ford F150 pick-up truck was stolen. Over the course of four months, several commercial entries took place in the Hamilton area. The Hamilton Bear Unit has continued to investigate these incidents and has established a connection. The pick-up truck stolen from the June entry is believed to be involved in four commercial entries:

  • August 23, 2020, entry to a business on Stonechurch Road East where a large number of vacuum cleaners and home healthcare items were stolen.
  • August 26, 2020, entry to a pharmacy on Queenston Road in Stoney Creek. Pharmaceutical drugs and products valued in the area of $100,000 were stolen.
  • September 24, 2020, entry to a car dealership on Upper James Street. Tools and automotive supplies were stolen.
  • October 16, 2020, entry to a business in the Nebo Road area. A large quantity of sanitizer and cleaning supplies were stolen.

On Wednesday November 4, 2020, members of the Hamilton Police Service executed search warrants at two residences located in the east end of Hamilton and Hannon, Ontario. Located inside the residences were two shotguns, ammunition, over $100,000 in stolen pharmaceuticals, approximately $100,000 in stolen property and a quantity of cocaine. The items were all seized as evidence.

During the course of the investigation three adults were arrested. Their matter was brought before the court system on Wednesday, November 4, where they faced numerous charges related to firearms, commercial entries and possession of stolen property and drugs.

This investigation remains ongoing and detectives anticipate proceeding with additional arrests and criminal charges.

  • Madison SHURA, 28-years-of-age from Hannon, Ontario

CHARGES

  • Unauthorized possession of firearm x2
  • Careless storage of firearm x2
  • Possession of stolen property over $5000

ARRESTED

  • Helena PINKERTON, 65-years-of-age from Hamilton, Ontario

CHARGES

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of stolen property over $5000
  • Proceeds of crime under $5000
