Hamilton Police Arrest Canada Wide Disqualified Driver

Hamilton Police have arrested a Canada wide disqualified driver who was believed to be recently involved in driving incidents in the east end of Hamilton. A 21-year-old Stoney Creek man appeared in court on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, to answer to charges of Operate Vehicle while Prohibited and Breach of Probation (X3).

Between Saturday, December 15, 2018, and Sunday, December 19, 2018, Hamilton Police investigated driving incidents involving a grey BMW. Due to efforts by the driver, police were unable to safely conduct traffic stops; however, police were able to identify the driver. The investigation revealed the status of the suspect driver’s licence was disqualified for life, after multiple suspensions for driving infractions.

On Tuesday, December 18, 2018, shortly before 8:30 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to a disturbance call in the area of Dewitt Road and Highway #8, Stoney Creek. The parties involved left in a vehicle prior to police arrival. A short time later the vehicle was spotted by police and a traffic stop was conducted. The officer recognized one of the passengers as the person suspected to be responsible for several driving violations over the weekend. During those incidents, the driver was able to evade police. Additional officers were called for assistance and the suspect was arrested without incident.

A 21-year-old Stoney Creek man appeared in court on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, to answer to the charges.
