Hamilton Police Conclude Child Exploitation Sweep “Project Frost Byte”

The Hamilton Police Service Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit has concluded a two week project that focused on individuals who utilized online file storage systems, often referred to as “cloud storage”, or within online internet accounts to commit child exploitation offences.

Between February 26 and March 9, 2018 members of the ICE Unit, Technological Crime Unit, and uniform patrol executed a total of four search warrants at various locations within the City of Hamilton.

Numerous electronic devices were seized during the execution of these warrants and digital forensic analysis and investigations are ongoing. The accused(s) are not believed to be known to one another.

  • Liam Angus, 19 years of Hamilton

Charges:

  • Possession of Child Pornography x2

Charged: 

  • Richard MacKay, 46 years of Hamilton

Charges:

  • Possession of Child Pornography x2
  • Fail to Comply with Probation x 2

Charged: 

  • Joseph Locke, 46 years of Hamilton

Charges:

  • Possession of Child Pornography x2
  • Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000 x3
  • Possession of Controlled Substance - Methamphetamine

The Hamilton Police Service will continue to aggressively pursue individuals who utilize technology to exploit children.
