Hamilton Police Continue to Investigate Early Morning Collision

Hamilton Police are looking to speak with anyone who witnessed an early morning collision that involved a cyclist and motor vehicle. A 68-year-old Hamilton man is currently hospitalized in critical condition as a result of the incident.

On Tuesday, October 9, 2018, shortly after 6:25 a.m., a serious motor vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of Trinity Church Road and Golf Club Road, Hamilton. At that time, a cyclist was in the process of entering Golf Club Road from Trinity Church Road when he was struck from behind by a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu. The cyclist was thrown from his bicycle, ending up on the roadway. The driver of the vehicle and a witness remained on scene and offered assistance to the cyclist.

The cyclist, a 68-year-old Hamilton man was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The operator of the Malibu, a 54-year-old male from Hamilton was not injured.

Through investigation, police have ruled out speed and impairment as contributing factors in the collision.
