Hamilton Police Investigate 16th Motor Vehicle Fatality of 2022

Hamilton Police are investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a Yahama Majesty scooter and a pickup truck on Parkdale Avenue North near Burland Crescent in the City of Hamilton. 

On Tuesday, September 13, 2022, just after 10 a.m., a 24-year-old Hamilton man was operating a 2003 Ford pickup truck northbound on Parkdale Avenue North at Burland Crescent.  Simultaneously, a 70-year-old Hamilton male was operating a motorcycle scooter in the southbound lanes towards the same intersection. The driver of the Ford pickup began to turn left at the intersection and struck the scooter causing a collision. 

The 70-year-old man suffered significant injuries and was transported to hospital by paramedics.  Despite efforts by paramedics and hospital staff, the male succumbed to his injuries.

The 24-year-old man was physically unharmed, remained at the collision scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

Due to the injuries sustained, the Collision Reconstruction Unit was activated and has taken carriage of the investigation.

This is the City’s 16th motor vehicle fatality of the year, and the fourth motor vehicle driver.
