Hamilton Police Investigate Double Fatal Collision

On Saturday, November 25, 2023, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to a devastating two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highland Road East and Tapleytown Road on the Stoney Creek Mountain.
The collision involved a 2013 Ford Flex carrying four occupants traveling northbound on Tapleytown Road. Tragically, the collision occurred when a 2022 Dodge Ram 1500, driven by a single male, struck the Ford. The collision resulted in the loss of two female passengers who were in the Ford, while the two male occupants sustained severe injuries and were taken to hospital. Presently, one male remains hospitalized in stable condition. Following the collision, the male driver of the Dodge Ram was located near the scene and is currently in police custody.

The Hamilton Police Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate this investigation. The affected segments of Highland Road East and Tapleytown Road were temporarily closed for thorough investigation measures but have since reopened.

A 36-year-old Hamilton man has been charged with:

  • Two Counts of Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Death
  • Two Counts of Fail To Remain Causing Death under the Criminal Code
