Hamilton Police Investigate Female Injured in Bus Shelter

Hamilton Police have concluded their investigation into an incident where a Hamilton woman was injured as a result of glass breaking in an HSR Bus shelter. Initial information provided to police suggested the glass was broken as a result of a projectile from a pellet or BB gun. Through investigation, police have determined the glass broke as a result of pressure from the female, who had been leaning against it at the time.

On Monday, August 20, 2018, shortly after 8:30 p.m., a woman was waiting for a bus in an HSR shelter, located at the corner of Upper Wentworth and Fennell Avenue East, Hamilton. The female was leaning up against the glass wall when it gave way. She received superficial injuries and was medically treated and cleared at the scene.

Initially, police were provided with information that suggested the glass may have been shot out by a projectile.

Hamilton Police have conducted a thorough investigation which included interviewing several witnesses and a review of security camera footage. Additionally, an extensive search of the immediate area was also conducted and police did not locate any items with the capability of breaking the glass.

It cannot be determined if the glass was previously damaged, however, the evidence supports the glass accidentally broke as a result of the woman leaning on it, not as a result of a projectile.
