Hamilton Police Investigate Shooting Downtown

On Saturday, December 3, 2022, shortly after 4:00 a.m., Hamilton Police responded to the area of Main Street East and Catharine Street South when multiple gun shots were heard.

Police can confirm a shooting incident occurred and that bullet casings were located in the area.

Three suspects were observed fleeing the area at the time of the shooting by responding officers. They were described as male black, late teens early twenties wearing dark clothing. 

A white newer model SUV was also observed fleeing the area at a high rate of speed.  

Division One Criminal Investigations Branch is investigating this crime. Detectives are asking residents and businesses in the area to review their security cameras between the hours of 3:30 a.m. and 4:30 a.m., for any suspicious activity and contact Police. Detectives are also asking for anyone driving in the area at that time with dash cam footage to contact investigators.
