Hamilton Police Recover High-End Stolen Bicycles

A two month investigation resulted in the arrest of a Hamilton man and the recovery of stolen property valued at over $40,000.

On Thursday, December 19, 2019, members of the Hamilton Police Service Division 20 HEAT Unit, with assistance from the BEAR Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence in the East End of Hamilton, Ontario. Information to support the search warrant application was gathered during a two month long investigation into the thefts of high-end bicycles from both residential and commercial properties in the Ancaster, Aldershot and Dundas areas.

As a result of the search warrant, the following items were located:

  • 26 Mountain bikes valued at over $40,000
  • Bike parts including rims, tires, forks, handlebars and seats
  • Rossignol skis
  • Prohibited weapons

CHARGED

  • Jason KANE, male 43-years-of-age from Hamilton

CHARGES

  • Possession of prohibited weapon X2
  • Possession contrary to order X2
  • Possession stolen property over $5000
  • Possession stolen property under $5000 X2

The investigation is ongoing with the potential of additional charges being brought forward in the future.
