Hamilton Police Respond to Stabbing Incident at Central Park in Hamilton

Hamilton Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed an altercation in Central Park on Sunday to please come forward and contact police.

On Sunday, August 27, 2023, shortly before 6:30 p.m., Hamilton Police were called to 168 Bay Street North, Central Park for an assault that had just taken place out front of a tented area. Information received was that two individuals began to fight and one brandished a knife, stabbing a 34-year-old man and sending him to hospital.

In the interest of public safety and transparency, we wish to share the details of the incident and our ongoing efforts to ensure the safety of our community.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a victim with stab wounds inflicted by a knife, at this time believed to be a machete. Immediate medical attention was provided to the victim, who was then transported to hospital and later released.

Information on the suspect is unknown and our investigators are working diligently to gather evidence, interview any witnesses, and identify the suspect involved in this serious crime.

While this incident is deeply concerning, it is an isolated incident, and there is no immediate threat to the public. We will continue to maintain a police presence in Central Park and surrounding areas.
