Hamilton Police Seize Three Firearms and Drugs

On Thursday, September 29, 2022, at approximately 11:05 a.m., Hamilton Police conducted a traffic stop in the area of Wentworth Street North and Barton Street East. The investigation revealed that the affixed licence plates were not registered to the vehicle, the male driver was not licenced, and the vehicle was stolen. 

A search of the vehicle revealed two loaded restricted handguns and one loaded restricted handgun which was altered and capable of being used as a fully automatic prohibited firearm. The search also revealed one prohibited over-capacity magazine, a quantity of Cocaine and a quantity of Psilocybin (Magic Mushrooms). 

Hamilton Police charged the male driver with four traffic-related offences, as well as the following criminal charges: 

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm x 3 
  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized x 3 
  • Possession of Prohibited Loaded Firearm x 3 
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle x 3 
  • Careless Transport of a Firearm x 3 
  • Possession of a Prohibited Device x 2
