Hamilton Resident Charged with Fraud and Theft from CUPE Local 786

Hamilton Police Service has charged a local resident of defrauding CUPE Local 786 of approximately 1 million dollars.

In July 2017, the Hamilton Police Service Major Fraud Unit received a complaint from CUPE Local 786 regarding several accounting irregularities that had been discovered.

It is alleged that between January 2010 and March 2017, the union elected Treasurer had used union funds for personal benefit. CUPE Local 786 suffered a loss of approximately 1 million dollars.

Charged with one count of fraud over $5,000 and one count of theft over $5000 is Elizabeth MARCK (Female, 57 years) of Hamilton. MARCK was released with a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, August 7, 2018.
