Identity Fraudsters Nabbed

On January 16, 2020, just shortly before noon, Hamilton Police Major Fraud Detectives executed a search warrant on the east mountain in the city of Hamilton putting a halt on two identity fraudsters and their fraudulent lifestyle.

Detectives began an identity theft investigation in July 2018. As a result, a search warrant at an east mountain residence was executed back in March 2019. Identification, payment cards and property were seized and charges laid. Further investigation from that seizure resulted in a second search warrant being executed at the same residence on January 16th, 2020. Additional property, identification, and banking information were seized. A 34-year-old female and 31-year-old male were arrested and have been charged with a number of identity theft and fraud related offences. To date there have been approximately 100 victims that have suffered financial loss and have had their personal credit rating affected because of this criminal activity.
