Impaired Arrest Made Following Single Vehicle Collision

Hamilton Police have arrested a 21-year-old male as a result of a single vehicle collision at the end of April.

On Friday, April 29, 2022, shortly before 11:00 p.m., a 21-year-old Hamilton man was operating a 2016 Volkswagen vehicle westbound on Hunter Street West towards the offset intersection at Queen Street South.  The driver failed to negotiate the vehicle through the intersection and struck a fence along with protective concrete blocks.  This caused extensive damage to the vehicle and caused portions of the concrete blocks to fall onto the railway tracks below.

There were no other vehicles or pedestrians involved in this collision.  The driver and two other vehicle occupants were transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

On Tuesday, May 17, 2022, Hamilton Police arrested the driver of the Volkswagen following his recent release from the hospital.  He has been issued an Undertaking with a court date of June 21, 2022.
