Investigation into Assault and Firearm Continues

Hamilton Police continue to investigate a disturbance that occurred in a residence near King Street and Gage Avenue. An assault is believed to have taken place with a firearm present.

On Tuesday, May 19, 2020, shortly after 10:30 p.m. Hamilton Police received information about a disturbance inside a residence located in the area of King Street East and Gage Avenue South. Officers immediately responded and secured the area which included closing King Street from Gage Avenue South to East Bend Avenue South.

Through continued investigation, police learned an assault had occurred inside the residence and a firearm was present. During the following hours, detectives applied for a search warrant. The warrant was granted and shortly after 7:00 am. Tactical officers entered the residence and no suspects were located inside.

As a result of the search, police have recovered firearms, controlled substances, as well as evidence of the alleged assault. Criminal charges are expected to be laid accordingly.

The investigation remains ongoing with police holding the scene and conducting interviews during the course of the day.

The two victims injured during the assault did not require medical attention and are expected to make a full recovery.
