Local Schools Placed in Hold and Secure as Police Conduct Investigation

Hamilton Police place several Dundas Schools in Hold and Secure as they search for a male with a weapon. A Dundas male, 18-years-old was located and detained. He was in possession of an air pistol which police confirmed was involved in the incident. He has been released and the BB gun was turned over to police.

On Thursday March 29, 2018, shortly before 11:30a.m., Hamilton Police received information of a male firing a weapon in the area of Governor’s Road and Creighton Road, Dundas. Five local schools were placed in Hold and Secure as a strong police presence attended the area. A short time later, police located a male matching the description provided by witnesses. An 18-year-old Dundas man was detained and he turned over to police the air pistol involved in the incident. The Hold and Secure was lifted shortly before 12:30p.m.

The pistol was not equipped with any projectiles.

Police are not laying criminal charges as at no time was a threat posed to the community.

Hamilton Police thank the public for their alertness and quick response. Public safety as always is paramount and police take these types of incidents very seriously.
