Male Arrested after Stolen Taxi Located by Owner

The owner of a stolen taxi witnessed an unknown male driving his car through the streets of a Stoney Creek neighbourhood. Police arrived on the scene and charged a Hamilton man with possession of the stolen property.

On June 19, 2019, a Blue-Line Taxi driver called the police to report his 2011 Ford Crown Victoria had been stolen from the parking lot of 1952 King Street East in Hamilton between June 18, 2019, 8:30 p.m. and June 19, 2019, 10:00 a.m.

Around 8:00 p.m. on June 19, 2019, the taxi driver was in the area of Parkdale Avenue and Central Avenue when he observed his stolen vehicle driving through a survey. The owner located the vehicle stopped in front of an address on Reid Avenue and called Police for assistance.

Upon arrival, police found a male sitting in the driver’s seat of the stolen auto and he was placed under arrest for possession of the stolen property. During the investigation, there was evidence to charge the driver with impaired operation by drug. A search located drug paraphernal and a quantity of crystal meth.

The male was charged and held in custody with his bail opposed.
