Mistaken Identity During Home Invasion

Police continue to look for a male suspect involved in an overnight home invasion on Niagara Street in Hamilton.

On March 9, 2020, shortly after 12:30 a.m., a resident was inside her Niagara Street home when she heard a loud bang. The female peeked through her bedroom door and found an unknown male standing in her kitchen.

The female made an attempt to call 911 when the male hit the woman and grabbed her cell phone. The victim did not sustain any injuries nor did she require Hamilton Paramedics.

The victim advised police she did not know the male and thinks he may have mistaken her identity as he kept referring to a name she did not know.

The female was able to flee safely from the residence in her vehicle.

Suspect Description:

  • Black male, unknown age
  • Heavy build, approximately 6 feet
  • Dark colour work style jacket, black boots, black fleece gloves and balaclava
  • Spoke with an accent possibly from the Caribbean area
