Hamilton Police Investigate Motorcycle Fatality on Barton Street East
Hamilton Police continue to investigate a fatal collision and are asking anyone with information or video footage to contact police.
On Thursday, September 26, 2024, shortly after 3:30 p.m., a collision occurred in the eastbound lane of Barton Street East at Barnesdale Avenue North, in Hamilton.
A 74-year-old male from Hamilton was driving his Harley Davidson motorcycle eastbound on Barton Street East, approaching Barnesdale Avenue North. A Jeep Cherokee, driven by a 59-year-old male from St Catharines, was westbound on Barton Street East. The Jeep turned left across the eastbound lanes and the motorcycle struck the side of the Jeep, ejecting the motorcycle rider. The motorcycle rider was transported to hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
Hamilton Police Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to Investigate the collision. The driver of the Jeep remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. A stretch of Barton Street East was closed for several hours, but has since re-opened.
